Matt Ritchie set to keep playing through pain barrier

Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie will play with a broken wrist in a bid to help resurrect their season, Sportsmail can reveal.

We understand that the 28-year-old suffered the fracture in the closing stages of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Watford when he fell awkwardly.
However, after X-rays confirmed the break in his right arm, Ritchie indicated his determination to play in Tuesday’s game at West Brom and the club’s medical staff arranged for a protective cast to be worn.
Rafa Benitez’s side were heading for a fifth straight defeat as they trailed 2-0 with half an hour remaining at The Hawthorns.
But it was Ritchie who produced two assists to claim a valuable point and stop the rot which was threatening to plunge the Magpies towards the bottom three.

The Scotland international is set to again wear the cast when Newcastle travel to Chelsea this weekend.
